dude give me back the euro

arrived safe and sound in london. we couldnt take a train because all of the eurrail pass slots were used up because apparently everyone and their brother has school on this monday and i would have had to book weeks ago. we are in central london staying in the dorms. there are nearly 400 msu students staying in london right now and i love it. i have met probably 50 msu kids from different programs and its nice to have such a wide variety of people to talk to. not to mention the internet is blazing fast and we all have our own rooms, the accommodations are fucking awesome. this city is just a sea of pubs, one or two on every corner. ive made it a point to try all of the english dishes and i have to say i havent been disappointed yet. bangers and mash is probably my favorite but i really liked the sheppards pie too and you cant forget fish and chips of course. god the exchange rate sucks here, i dont even know what to do. it is literally more than double the us dollar. we went to the national portrait gallery which was super lame, and then we went to the national gallery which was not as lame, but still super lame. umm the classes are sweet, the professors are super chill and its mostly about the history of crime. all weve been talking about is various forms of execution and famous criminals in british history. we did a jack the ripper tour which was really cool, i got to lay on the ground in the EXACT spot where one of the murders took place. we did a walking tour as well of london, and i really enjoyed it the tour guide was a funny dude and he knew his shit, i really enjoyed listening to him. this is probably the first city ive been to that really doenst feel like a european city, its way too modern for my tastes and it feels pretty overwhelming. im sure itll grow on me, but right now im kind of indifferent to london, ive been here before but this time it just feels too big for me. im a simple guy you know? but have no fear, im sure its just the shock of getting here and ill get used to it, london is supposed to be one of the power metropolises of the world and im not gunna let that get me down. oh yea and the beer is AWESOME. ive made it a point to try and get a new beer everywhere i go, but its turning out to be impossible. this is because every pub has a range of 10 new beers and i feel like i cant possibly try all 3million beers this country has to offer. im still up in the air about what im doing this weekend, i really want to go to belgium, but the hostels i want to stay in are all booked up. i am a firm believer that the amount of fun you have in a place is dependent on the hostel you stay at, especially if your traveling alone. so well see what happens, im gunna try and round up a few people to go somewhere, maybe luxumburg?? but once again i have to reiterate how awesome it is to be living in the dorms, it is just such a nice change of pace. we are going to a musical right now (super weak) but who knows maybe ill like it. oh yea and my independent study for this program i got to pick the topic. i am doing a paper on the most haunted locations in england and i plan on visiting them giving the history and my opinion on each location. ill update this boy soon enough, peep facebook all the pictures are up to date now. and mom and dad i hope your having fun in florida, i miss you guys like crazy and i cant thank you enough for everything youve given me the opportunity to do. cheers mates
